Bob Macmillan appointed as Dean of Education, University of Manitoba
Friday, April 1, 2011
Warmest congratulations to Dr. Robert Macmillan, Associate Dean of Graduate Programs and Research, on his appointment as Dean of Education and Full Professor at the University of Manitoba.
Bob began his career in education as a teacher and school principal in Quebec before joining the Faculty of Education at St. Francis Xavier University. He came to Western in 2003, where he served as Associate Dean (Programs) until 2007 when he assumed his current role.
Some of Bob’s more recent contributions to Western’s Faculty of Education include the oversight of our school leadership master's program with the Thames Valley School Board, the facilitation of the success of our first aboriginal cohort in educational leadership and the successful launch of the Ministry of Education KNAER project – to name a few. Bob is well known for his commitment to the development and enhancement of research and graduate student support.
Bob and his wife Kathryn, who also teaches at the Faculty, will be greatly missed by faculty, students and staff alike. Congratulations and good luck to you both!
