Western’s Faculty of Education is delighted to welcome Dr. Mary Hamilton as our Visiting Scholar for the month of June, 2011. A social psychologist, Dr. Hamilton is a Professor of Adult Learning and Literacy at the University of Lancaster, UK.
Education Professor hosts International Symposium

On June 6 - 8, international scholars will convene at a symposium in Ottawa to discuss the topic of children's bodies and their well being. "An International Symposium Speaks the Unspoken: Masculinities, bodies and body image in health education" is hosted by Education's Dr. Michael Kehler, along with Kevin Wamsley from Western's Health Sciences and Michael Atkinson from the University of Toronto.

Public Health Agency funds expansion of CREVAWC initiative

With a $2.5 million grant from the Public Health Agency of Canada, The Centre for Research and Education on Violence against Women and Children at Western’s Faculty of Education has partnered with CAMH Centre for Prevention Science to expand the reach of the well known Fourth R program.

On February 18, Western's Faculty of Education was host to one of nine awards ceremonies held across Ontario to recognise organizations that have demonstrated leadership and commitment to preventing domestic violence in the workplace. These organisations were acknowledged as Neighbours, Friends and Families Workplace Champions of 2011 - and among them was the University of Western Ontario.
