London Teachers' Wall of Fame

October 09, 2008

Two outstanding teachers will be added to the roster of Teachers’ Wall of Fame. They are: Clare Robinson, a literacy and special education teacher at Catholic Central High School and Bill Bettger, a music teacher retired from South Secondary School. The induction ceremony will take place in the Community Room at the Faculty of Education at Western on Thursday, October 16, 2008 at 2:30 pm. All are welcome to attend.

The Teachers’ Wall of Fame was unveiled on October 5, 2004 – World Teachers’ Day - at the London Public Library where it remains a permanent reminder of the dedication and commitment of all teachers who serve their students and their community. This year’s recipients, Ms. Robinson and Mr. Bettger, were nominated by their former students. Ms. Robinson’s nominator describes her as "an exceptional teacher who knows how to teach her students by being genuinely interested in their growth as human beings." Clare Robinson believes that as part of the community, "students are called to use their unique gifts and abilities to be of service to others and to be concerned stewards of the environment."

Bill Bettger’s nominator describes him as "a guardian of the arts and a champion for its cause," adding, "I am grateful for his vision and the leadership he brought to our school." Bettger said, "Without question, the most important aspect of my career has been the opportunity to come to know my students. To see them grow and learn and come to experience the joy and love of music has been reward enough for me."

A panel made up of members of the Faculty of Education, the London Public Library and prominent community members chose the recipients from among a group of outstanding nominees.
