Incoming B Ed student wins inaugural Bermuda Zoological Society Award

August 20, 2009

When Alexandria (Lexi) Tatem arrives at the Faculty to earn her Bachelor of Education Degree, she comes bearing an honour from her native Bermuda. Lexi is the first recipient of the Bermuda Zoological Society’s Steinhoff Award, “established to assist young Bermudians in environmentally related careers.”

Tatem is a graduate of Dalhousie University and most recently worked at Dolphin Quest in Bermuda as an intern coordinator where she mentored college students interested in marine mammal training.

“I hope to return to Bermuda to share my enthusiasm for science,” she said. “Our Island’s ecosystem is very precious and I believe education is the key to preserving it.”
