Dr. Pejman Habibie teaches graduate courses in socio-cultural approaches to language education, teaching reading and writing skills, computer-assisted language learning (CALL), and assessment.
His research areas and interests include the socio-economics and geopolitics of knowledge economy, scientometrics, writing for scholarly publication, academic discourse, and academic literacies. As an educator and scholar, Dr. Habibie is especially internationally known for his work in the field of English for Research Publication Purposes. His scholarly work has examined knowledge production and dissemination in Higher Education including the academic publication practices of both Anglophone and multilingual scholars in different international academic contexts focusing on topics such as the challenges these scholars encounter in academic publication in high-impact refereed journals, the ways in which they develop the required academic literacies for scholarly writing and publishing, and international policies and practices in Higher Education regarding knowledge production and dissemination. Dr. Habibie is also the founding co-editor of the Journal of English for Research Publication Purposes, and a founding co-editor of the book series Routledge Studies in English for Research Publication Purposes.
