Showcase Day at the Faculty of Education

March 01, 2011

March 7 is Showcase Day at the Faculty of Education! Starting at 12:30, the Faculty’s technology teacher candidates will display the many and varied products of their work with elementary and secondary students throughout the academic year. They’ll also display collaborative projects such as the Formula SAE race car and the BAJA car built at Western Engineering with the help of Education Technology students.

The Faculty of Education lobby will be abuzz with many projects including an electric go cart built at Saunders Secondary School by technology teacher candidates and Saunders students and Maglev (magnetic levitation) vehicles running on a 20-foot track.

“We are focusing our efforts on experiential learning,” said Neil Whatmough, Lecturer at the Faculty. “Our technology teacher candidates have worked throughout the academic year with elementary and secondary students, involving them in a wide range of projects. We have built naturalized outdoor classrooms at Thames Valley’s Madeline Hardy and Aberdeen schools, and have worked with students on an indoor garden project created by technology teacher candidates in K-8 classrooms within the London District Catholic School Board.”
