Season's Greetings from the Faculty of Education

November 25, 2022

It was wonderful this past fall to see Western and the Faculty of Education return to in-person engagement with our students, our community, and our alumni. It was a fall characterized by connections – with one another, our community, and with our esteemed alumni. We delighted in just being together and resuming the things that were routine prior to COVID.

While things were more back to normal than they had been during the preceding two years, our society is still struggling with COVID. I did not want to lose sight of this. Schools, teachers, mental health counsellors, families, and our heath care professionals, among many others continue to face challenges. Our connections continue to deepen across our extended Faculty of Education family to support students, families, and our broader community through our programs, our students, our staff and faculty, and our research. We are tremendously proud of how we are making a difference – especially over our recent and tremendously challenging past. The world is noticing. The Faculty of Education has been ranked in the top four in Canada and the top 1% in the world. We are transforming education, transforming lives in every aspect of society and our alumni are leading.

This past fall, the Faculty of Education launched a new strategic plan. I would encourage you to check it out! We’ve committed to being transparent about our accomplishments. We’ve added a new value – that of kindness.

In 2024-2025, the Faculty of Education will be celebrating our 50th anniversary! We have more than 43,000 alumni who have made remarkable contributions throughout their careers.  Stay tunned for how you might engage and for all the events.

In closing, I wanted to thank each of you for choosing Western and this Faculty of Education. Our work is heavily supported by your generosity, and we are deeply grateful.  Your donations help in many ways – and every donation ultimately impacts the lives of children. If you are thinking about finding a way to contribute or create a legacy, please reach out.

As the year comes to a close, I extend my heartfelt thanks to each of you for your contributions and the significant impact you’ve made. To you and your loved ones I extend my warmest best wishes for the holiday season.
