  • They explored the math in the story (buidling a rectangular pen for the wolf)
  • They shared their learning with the seventh/eighth grade class
  • The seventh/eighth grade students read the story A New Home For Scruffy
  • They explored the math in the story (buidling pen with the largest rectangular area with only 18 metres of fencing)
  • Students drew pictures and wrote lyrics to describe what they learned
  • Student lyrics was compiled to create two songs
  • The seventh/eighth grade students shared their learning with the second grade students

CIRCLES ARE BEST
(Purple Haze)

SQUARES HOLD, HOLD THE MOST
MAKES ME SHOUT, SHOUT HURRAY
BUT CIRCLES HOLD, HOLD EVEN MORE
THEIR AREA IS LARGER THAN THE REST

I’M WALKING DOWN, DOWN THE AISLES
TRYING TO FIND SOME CEREAL
THE BOX FACES ARE RECTANGLES
THERE AIN’T NO SQUARES OR NO CIRCLES

CEREAL COMPANIES, ARE REAL MEAN
WHY CAN’T THEY BE, MORE ECO FRIENDLY
SKINNY RECTANGLES ARE NOT THE WAY
CUBES CAN SAVE SOME MATERIAL
