Scruffy needs a pen

A song based on the writing of fourth/fifth grade students. Students did the following:

  • Second grade students read the story Wolf Gets Hurt
  • They explored the math in the story (buidling a rectangular pen for the wolf)
  • They shared their learning with the fouth/fifth grade class
  • The fouth/fifth grade students read the story A New Home For Scruffy
  • They explored the math in the story (buidling pen with the largest rectangular area with only 18 metres of fencing)
  • Students drew pictures and wrote to describe what they learned
  • Student writing was compiled to create the song below
  • The fouth/fifth grade students shared their learning with the second grade students
  • Then, all the students sang the song together
