Classroom Technology

With an emphasis on personalized learning and digital mobility, we strive to provide the best classroom technologies for our students. In addition to the mounted projectors in many of our classrooms, we also have interactive whiteboards, class response systems, and mobile technology available to enhance your learning experience at Western.

Interactive Whiteboard & SMART Notebook

Most classrooms in the building are now equipped with an interactive whiteboard with SMART Notebook installed. SMART Notebook software is designed to create, deliver and share interactive lessons on licensed whiteboards.A free two-year SMART Notebook license is provided to all Bachelor of Education students. The license key can be picked up from room 1138.

Class Response System

Adding a class response system to an onsite course can be an effective engagement strategy and provides insights into students' understanding of concepts as a session progresses. iClicker is Western's officially-supported audience response system for polling classes and collecting immediate results. You will need to register an account before participating in classroom polling, video tutorial also available.  We provide support for other tools, including PollEveryWhere and Kahoot! as well.

Mobile Lab

Mobile devices introduce countless possibilities to the classroom in today's digital learning environment. The mobile lab refers to carts of chromebooks that can be reserved and brought into classrooms for students to use during a lesson. We encourage students to discover, experiment and invent learning experiences with these devices and use them to build engagement in their own classrooms.

Mobile lab carts are available in room 1138 and must be reserved in advance.
