Program Planning is the process whereby students select (register for) their courses and milestones. Program planning is required only for students registered in a research intensive program (Ph.D. and M.A.).
Program Planning for the 2016-2017 academic year will open on June 13, 2016 and we will finish June 24, 2016.

Who needs to complete Program Planning
Students in some programs do not have to complete program planning as their course sequence is prescribed. Please see below if you have to complete Program Planning.
Students in the following programs must complete Program Planning
- PhD in Education Studies in the Field of Applied Linguistics
- PhD in Education Studies in the Field of Curriculum Studies
- PhD in Education Studies in the Field of Critical Policy, Equity, and Leadership
- MA in Education Studies in the Field of Applied Linguistics
- MA in Education Studies in the Field of Curriculum Studies
- MA in Education Studies in the Field of Critical Policy, Equity, and Leadership
- M.Ed. in Educational Studies
Students in the following programs do not complete Program Planning
The courses in the following programs are prescribed and students will be registered in their courses by the Graduate Programs Office
- MA in the Field of Counselling Psychology
- MA in the Field of Applied Psychology in Schools
- PhD in Education Studies in the Field of School and Applied Child Psychology
- MPEd - all programs

Program Planning Form

Please note that course registration for the Graduate Programs at Faculty of Education is not done through the Student Centre and can only be done through the above method.
Changing Course Selection
You can your preferences at a later date, but if you decide to drop a class and that class has a waitlist, you will be on the waitlist if you choose that course again.
Add/Drop Procedures (after Program Planning)
To Add/Drop a course send your request by email to your Graduate Affairs Assistant (as listed below).

Adds - Students may request to add a course before the second class takes place. As a result, add deadlines are typically at the end of the first week of classes during the fall and winter terms. These dates are prorated for condensed summer sessions.
Drops - Dropped courses up to 30 days from the start of a term will not appear on a student's transcript; after 30 days and up to 60 days from the start of the term dropped courses show as "WDN" (withdrawn) on a student's transcript; dropping a course after 60 days from the beginning of a term results in a "F" (fail). These timelines are prorated for condensed summer sessions.

Course Priority & Waitlists
If a course is full, students will be given priority to the course in the following way:
1st priority - Students who require the course to graduate in the term.
2nd priority - Students for whom the courses is a requirement.
3rd priority - Given based on when the student signed up for the course.
Waitlist - The maximum class size is 20. Once a course is full, a student may choose to be put on a waitlist. The Graduate Programs Office will contact the student if a spot opens up.
Submission of your course selection through the Program Planning Form is not a guarantee that you will be enrolled in the courses you have selected. The Graduate Programs Office will notify you regarding successful course enrollment. We will contact you approximately one month before each term to let you know what courses you have been enrolled in or if there are any issues regarding your enrollment.
If you are a professional programs student (EdD and MPEd), you do not need to access the program planning application, as you will be pre-registered in your required core course each semester. If you would like to enroll in an additional course, contact the Graduate Programs Office.
