Do I need to send an official transcript?
Official transcripts are required for any course which has an academic prerequisite (Business Studies, French as a Second Language, Intermediate Additional Basic, Senior Additional Basic, and Honour Specialist courses). A transcript is official only if it is sent directly from the issuing institution or arrives in a sealed envelope with a university seal intact. If you are a Western grad, we do not require official Western transcripts. If your transcript is coming from a foreign country and will be difficult to obtain, a copy from the Ontario College of Teachers is acceptable.
Ensure that the transcript is addressed to Continuing Teacher Education, Faculty of Education, 1137 Western Road, London, ON N6G 1G7.
I am a B.Ed. student at an Ontario university. Can I take an Intersession/Summer course?
Ontario B.Ed. students can take courses with us prior to becoming certified providing they have successfully completed ALL degree requirements for their Bachelor of Education (including the practicum) and have registered with OCT prior to the start date of the course. A letter from the Faculty of Education confirming completion of degree requirements is required.
What is a combined Honour Specialist?
A combined Honour Specialist is TWO Honour Specialist courses. You must register and pay for both Honour Specialist courses. The courses can be taken concurrently or during different sessions. Once you have completed BOTH courses, a recommendation will be forwarded to the College of Teachers for a combined Honour Specialist.
