Presentation Formats

1. ABSTRACT POSTER (quick and easy!): An 18" X 24" poster of an abstract from a recently published work (2009-2010).

Graduate students who do not have published works may submit an abstract of ongoing thesis or DRP research.

You will need to use a template available here. We will print your poster and will cover the cost of up to three posters per individual.

Posters are to be emailed to edu-researchday@uwo.ca by Monday, March 1, 2010.

2. FULL POSTER: A large format poster of published or ongoing works.

You may submit a poster that has been, or will be, presented at a scholarly or professional conference (2009-2010) or a full-size poster that will only be presented at Research Day. The faculty will cover the cost of printing a limited number of posters on a first come basis. Information about creating a full poster using PowerPoint is available here (pdf file of instructions courtesy of Dr. Mark McDayter, Faculty of Arts and Humanities). Information about printing services and costs for large posters is available here.

Posters to be printed by the faculty are to be submitted to edu-researchday@uwo.ca by Monday, March 1, 2010. Decisions about whether or not the Faculty budget will cover the cost of printing your large poster will be made by February 19. If the Faculty is covering the cost of your poster and the poster PowerPoint is submitted by March 1 to edu-researchday@uwo.ca, we will make the arrangements to have it printed at Mercury Blueprinting.  If you are paying for your own poster or miss the March 1 deadline, some of the available options are here.

3. BOOKS

Covers of books published during the past five years (2005-2010) will be exhibited on a display board.

Submit your book to Tina Beynen by Monday, March 1, 2010 so that a colour copy of the cover can be made to add to the display.

4. CREATIVE ACTIVITY / OTHER FORMAT

We are welcoming works of creative expression in whatever media are appropriate to your area of academic expertise. For example, recordings of music, works of visual or performance art, poetry readings, excerpts from novels, technical achievements, etc. Please contact Karen Kueneman (x88561) to discuss your ideas as space is limited.

5. SLIDE SHOW – MASSED FORMAT

This may be of interest to you if you have PowerPoint slide shows which have been or will be presented at conferences (2009-2010) or at this year’s seminar series. We will be running a continuous slide show loop on a large projection unit. The loop will consist of a successive string of slide shows. Participants are asked to email their slide shows to edu-researchday@uwo.ca by Monday, March 1, 2010.

Please send your ‘Intent to Present’ form by Tuesday, February 16, 2010 to edu-researchday@uwo.ca.

If you have any questions, please contact Karen Kueneman (x88561).
