Dear Teacher Candidates,
No part of the teacher education program generates more eager anticipation (or more anxiety) than the practicum! What do you need to know? What do you need to do? The Link provides you with guidelines about what is expected of you and with suggestions about how to be successful. Schools, classrooms, Associate Teachers, and Teacher Candidates differ in so many ways it is impossible to say exactly how your practicum will progress. Your practicum will be challenging. You may find you have never worked such long hours in your life. You may not always find being in classrooms as much fun as you had hoped. Learn as much as you can from every situation and keep your goal - to be a teacher - in mind. We in the Faculty and in the schools where you do your practicum will do all we can to support you.
My very best wishes,
Margaret McNay, Ph.D.
Associate Dean, Teacher Education Programs
