COOPERATIVE EDUCATION PAR  EDAQ 5721
Course Description

This course is designed to prepare teachers to design curriculum, using a co-operative education methodology, for implementation in a secondary school subject. Principles of negotiating the conditions of satisfactory out-of- school learning experiences with community representatives or worksite personnel will be considered.

Admission Requirements

1. General Certificate of Qualification and Registration in Good Standing (Verification of OCT registration will be done online via the Public register of the Ontario College of Teachers).
2. A qualification in one of the following: Primary division; Junior division; Intermediate division in a general education subject from Schedule A; or Senior division in a general education subject from Schedule A.

Teachers holding Qualifications in Technological Education may take the three-part specialist courses in Co-operative Education.

NOTE: Education students graduating in 2013 from an Ontario Faculty of Education may take courses prior to membership with OCT providing that they have met all the requirements to graduate prior to the course start date and have registered with OCT and paid their OCT dues before JULY 31, 2013. Any teacher who fails to pay their dues and is not a member in good standing with the College by July 31, 2013 will NOT be recommended for the AQ course taken in this session. Students from Faculties other than Western must provide proof of successful completion of their B.Ed. program. Students from Faculties outside of Ontario MUST be a member of the Ontario College of Teachers prior to the course start date.

Note: It is suggested that candidates in the Co-Op Part 1 course seek the assistance of an experienced Co-Op teacher as a mentor. This course may not be suitable for new graduates.
