Email Accounts

As of September, the Faculty of Education, as well as the Registrar's Office, will be using your Western email account only to communicate with you. To receive emails from your instructors or announcements regarding practicum assignments, class changes,  convocation and other important  information, be sure to activate your UWO email account. UWO email accounts are operated by Information Technology Services (ITS). Any problems or questions related to the activation or maintenance of a UWO email account should be directed to the ITS Help Desk at (519) 661-3800 or in person at Natural Sciences Centre, Room 255, on main campus.

Student Computer Lab Access (your local Education account)

Students at the Faculty of Education are given a computer account which provides access to any of the Windows computers in the Faculty. Your Education login is: your 9 digit STUDENT NUMBER, your Education password is: Edu-(PIN#). For example, a student with student# 123456789 and pin# 1234 would have username 123456789 and password Edu-1234. This account provides up to 80MB of secure storage space for your files on our network server.  This space is identified as your “N” drive and will have your student number assigned to it (go to My Computer on the desktop and double click to locate your N drive). You are strongly encouraged to save all your files onto your N drive. Files on your personal N drive can be retrieved from any Windows computer in the Faculty as well as from the web through the Preservice portal http://preservice.edu.uwo.ca. Your 4 digit PIN is included with your registration information. It is a unique confidential identifier provided by the university. If you forget your PIN you can retrieve it from Western’s registrar’s website. Your Faculty of Education account also controls access to printing in the labs and workrooms.

You may add more “credit” to your laser printing account by going to the Media Production Centre. Laser printing charges are $.10 per page.

Faculty of Education Preservice Web Services

There are a number of online resources available to you on the Faculty of Education’s website at http://www.edu.uwo.ca. You will be able to login with your Education ID and Password (details in #2) to access your personal storage space via our portal at http://preservice.edu.uwo.ca. The portal provides ‘outside the Faculty’ access to any online courses and discussion areas that you are enrolled in, access to your practicum assignments as well as access to your “N” drive files.

Please NOTE, your Western main campus account is not the same as your local Education account that you use to log into the computers at the Faculty of Education, the login and passwords are NOT the same!
