Eating Plastic - Big Science Ideas in Grades 3/4
Grade 3/4 students read the story Nokomis Shines. They discussed and wrote about the environmental science ideas in the story. Their writing was used to write the song Eating Plastic. Then they created a music video of their song. They also performed their song for other students and shared their song publicly though the Math & Science Performance Festival.
Eating Plastic (get the mp3 file)
I saw a turtle - eating plastic.
It doesn’t make sense.
Eating plastic can make you die.
We don’t want your garbage - in our oceans.
Stop using plastic bottles.
We pollute too much how does it clean up?
The oceans are full - full of plastic.
How’s it make you feel?
The oceans are full - full of plastic.
How’s it make you feel? (How’s it make you feel?)
My waste hurts animals.
Creatures are getting hurt.
The wind blows it in the sea.
It’s all so dirty, so dirty!
The oceans are full - full of plastic.
How’s it make you feel?
The oceans are full - full of plastic.
How’s it make you feel? (How does it make you feel?)
Let’s not litter any more on this Earth.
Your future will be dirty if you don’t clean up.
If we want to survive, we’ll have to help
each other out.
Wherever garbage goes.
Whoever lives there,
They will be hurt.
So recycle! Clean up your mess!
The oceans are full - full of plastic.
How’s it make you feel?
The oceans are full - full of plastic.
How’s it make you feel? (How does it make you feel?)
Ashamed, mortified, disturbed, disgusted.
Don’t pollute, it’s not worth it.
