Fees and Funding Sources

Fees

Tuition fees are set each year by Senate and are published on the Office of the Registrar's web site.  Fees are paid per term (fall, winter, summer).  In the case of the summer term, it does not matter which session courses are taken in (Intersession, on-line, Summer Session); it is still considered one term and thus you pay one fee.

As of the Winter 2008 term, paper fee statements will no longer be produced.  Students can access fee information by logging into the Student Centre on the Office of the Registrar's web site (use your UWO email log in and password).

The penalty for late payment is $100.  For questions about your fees, including how to pay your fees and the methods of payment that are accepted, please go to the Student Financial Services pages of the Office of the Registrar's web site or contact Student Financial Services (Office of the Registrar) at 519 661-2100.

Masters and Doctoral Funding

FACULTY OF EDUCATION SUPPORT:  Teachers with several years of Canadian teaching experience may be eligible for a partial teaching assistantship.  Ph.D. applicants seeking funding are required to submit the Teaching/Research Assistantship form, and M.Ed. applicants with at least five years of teaching experience may also do so if they wish to be considered for a teaching assistantship.  M.Ed. applicants may also submit this form to be considered for a research assistantship.  M.Ed. students will be considered for TA/RA positions only after all Ph.D. students have been placed if there are positions still available, and upper year M.Ed. students are considered before new, incoming students.

DOCTORAL STUDENTS:  The PhD in Education Studies is a full time, onsite program.  Doctoral students will receive a funding package that includes the cost of annual tuition plus an additional $12,000.  A portion of your funding package involves either a graduate research (GRA) or teaching assistantship (GTA) requiring 10 hours of work per week for 28 weeks (September to April) in the Faculty of Education. Details of your assignment will be determined in consultation with you after you have formally accepted the offer of admission from the School of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies . Taking on the role of GRA or GTA provides you with crucial experience for your academic career after completion of the Ph.D.  The maximum term for funding is 4 (four) years.  Ph.D. applicants must include an Information for Teaching/Research Assistantship form with their application supporting documents.

MASTERS STUDENTS:

Graduate Education Grant (applicable only for students in cohort programs below who began their studies in 2007)- awarded to students admitted to M.Ed.
