Mission Statement for the Faculty of Education
Our mission is to advance learning through teaching and research, to discover and apply knowledge,
to provide an environment of free and creative inquiry within which critical thinking, humane
values and practical skills are cultivated and to serve society.
As a professional faculty,
the Faculty of Education provides initial preparation, continuing education and graduate programs
that reflect the unity of theory and practice.
We strive to educate teachers who display a
commitment to learning and thoughtful practice in their professional lives. Through our scholarship
and research, we contribute to the theoretical foundations of policy and practice in education
and provide service to the wider educational community.
