General Information
Short Courses require 20 hours (.25 credit courses) or 40 hours (.5 credit courses) of work
which may include classroom participation, reflective practice, web-based communication, readings
and assignments.
Continuing Teacher Education at Western provides a range of opportunities for teachers to
engage in ongoing learning about best practices in teaching with the goal to improve student
learning. These exemplary professional learning opportunities allow teachers to plan for and
reflect on their teaching practice, increase their knowledge of a subject area while being part
of a learning community.
Candidates in these Short Courses may opt to take a Post Graduate Certificate in Education
