Continuing Teacher Education       Faculty of Education       UWO

Welcome

The power of our mentors is not necessarily in the models of good teaching they gave us…
Their power is in their capacity to awaken a truth within us, a truth we can reclaim years
later by recalling their impact on our lives.

- Palmer, P. (1998). The Courage to Teach

This site has been developed to support mentoring relationships throughout your teaching experiences. It evolved out of an interest in supporting our teachers as they enter the Faculty of Education, and extending that support throughout their careers. It was also  developed to show  appreciation to the thousands of Ontario teachers who have served as mentors to one another, creating an enriched learning environment in our schools, and providing a wonderful model for Ontario's students.

We are happy to be working in partnership with the London District Catholic School Board and the Thames Valley District School Board on their Mentoring Initiatives. Check back to view developments as we add new stories and video clips created through these partnerships.

Why not share your mentorship stories and anecdotes with us? Stories from the 'field' can be used to generate new cases in this mentor resource area in a way that reflects the diversity of experiences. All stories are submitted anonymously. Selected stories are rewritten into fictional cases to protect anonymity of all parties.
