Senior Additional Basic Religious Education  EDUC 5663
Course Description

This course will enable teachers to receive additional basic qualifications for the senior division in Religious Education. This course will include curriculum planning, teaching strategies, and assessment of learning experiences for the senior division.

Admission Requirements

A Certificate of Qualification, Interim Certificate of Qualification, Certificate of Qualification (with conditions) or Letter of Eligibility; (A hard copy is required for the Letter of Eligibility only. Verification of the other documents will be done online via the Public register of the Ontario College of Teachers.)

B.Ed. students graduating in 2009 from an Ontario Faculty of Education may take courses prior to membership with OCT providing that they have met all the requirements to graduate and have registered with OCT. Students from Faculties other than Western must provide proof of successful completion of their B.Ed. program. Students from Faculties outside of Ontario MUST be a member of the Ontario College of Teachers prior to the course start date.

An acceptable university degree;

For applicants who do not already hold a "Senior" qualification, a "B" average (70%) in a minimum of five full university courses to support the teaching subject are required OR for applicants whose Certificate does indicate "Senior" as an area of concentration, a minimum of two full university courses to support the teaching subject are required (Note: Religious Education in the Education Act refers to Roman Catholic Religion only; supporting courses should reflect Roman Catholic content). (An official transcript(s) is required. Fax a copy to us upon registration AND follow up with an official transcript sent directly from the issuing institution. Note that course weights vary across institutions. Courses weighted as 3 credits are likely to be half courses.)
