Guidance and Career Education Part 1  EDUC 5739
Course Description

Principles of school guidance and basic guidance services will be the focus of this introductory course including topics such as selection, scoring and interpretation of standardized group tests (including aptitude, achievement, and interests) and the development and practice of interpersonal skills through experiential activities. Development of competence in counselling is an important component of the course.

Admission Requirements

A Certificate of Qualification, Interim Certificate of Qualification or Letter of Eligibility. (A hard copy is required for the Letter of Eligibility only. Verification of the other documents will be done online via the Public register of the Ontario College of Teachers.)

B.Ed. students graduating in 2009 from an Ontario Faculty of Education may take courses prior to membership with OCT providing that they have met all the requirements to graduate and have registered with OCT. Students from Faculties other than Western must provide proof of successful completion of their B.Ed./Dip.Ed program. Students from Faculties outside of Ontario MUST be a member of the Ontario College of Teachers prior to the course start date.
