Course Description

This course will provide advanced study of reading including theoretical models of language development and their implications for elementary and secondary school instruction; critical analysis of formal and informal strategies for evaluating literacy development; teaching strategies to meet individual needs; and historical overview and current trends in literature for young readers.

Admission Requirements

1. A Certificate of Qualification indicating successful completion of Part 1; (It is not necessary to submit a hard copy as proof can be obtained from the Public Register of the Ontario College of Teachers.)

2. Evidence of at least one year (194 days) of successful teaching experience, as certified by an appropriate supervisory officer (superintendent, not principal). Teaching experience MUST BE COMPLETED prior to the first day of the course.
