1. A Certificate of Qualification indicating qualifications in the primary
division, the junior division, the intermediate division or the senior
division in general studies; (It is not necessary to submit a hard
copy as proof can be obtained from the Public Register of the Ontario College
of Teachers.)
2. A Bachelor`s degree from an Ontario university in a program that
requires four years of university study, or the equivalent, to a total of at
least 20 full year courses and in which the candidate has obtained at least
second class or equivalent standing (B Average - 70%) in at least 9 full year
courses in the subject for which the candidate seeks qualification. (An
official transcript(s) is required. Fax a copy to us upon registration
AND follow up with an official transcript sent directly from the issuing
institution. Note that course weights vary across institutions. Courses
weighted as 3 credits are likely to be half courses.)
3.Evidence of at least two years (388 days) of successful teaching
experience, of which at least one year (194 days or 110 teaching hours) is in
Ontario in the Honour
Specialist area, as certified by the
appropriate supervisory officer (superintendent not principal). Teaching experience MUST BE COMPLETED prior to the first day of
the course.
4.The minimum passing grade for an Honour Specialist qualification is
70%.
Applicants to a Combined Honour Specialist program must hold the
following:
1. A Certificate of Qualification; (It is not necessary to submit a hard
copy as proof can be obtained from the Public Register of the Ontario College
of Teachers.) 2. A Bachelor`s degree from an Ontario university, or the
equivalent, to a total of at least 20 full year courses-fourteen of these
courses must be in a combination of the two subject areas with a minimum of
six in each subject area and at least second class or equivalent standing (B
average - 70%) in the two subjects. (An official transcript(s) is
required. Fax a copy
to us upon registration AND follow up with an official transcript sent
directly from the issuing institution. Note that course weights vary across
institutions. Courses weighted as 3 credits are likely to be half courses.)
A candidate must have at least second class or equivalent standing [B Average -
70%] in the two subjects.
3. Evidence of at least two years (388 days) of successful teaching
experience, of which at least one year (194 days or 110 teaching hours) is in
Ontario in one
of the subject areas in which the Combined
Honour Specialist qualification is so as certified by the appropriate
supervisory officer. This experience MUST BE COMPLETED prior to the first day
of the first course. 4. The minimum passing grade for a Combined Honour
Specialist qualification is 70% in each of the two qualification
courses. |
