CIESC Graduate Student CSSE Conference Travel Award 2008

The CIESC would like to encourage graduate students in their comparative and international education studies to participate at our annual CSSE conference. To this end, the CIESC has established a new fund to support graduate students to attend the CSSE conference to present a paper as a part of our CIESC program.

While any graduate student may apply for this travel support, the selection process will give preference to graduate students without sufficient travel funding who would not be able to attend the conference without this support.

The number of grants and the per-grant maximum amount are established on a case by case basis by the CIESC Graduate Student Conference Travel Award committee. After reviewing applications each year, the committee will decide how the money will be distributed.

The CIESC Graduate Student Conference Travel Award will be used to support graduate student presentations at the annual CSSE conference on the following basis:

1. students must be authoring and presenting a paper as a part of the CIESC program of the CSSE conference;

2. students must be registered as either part-time or full-time graduate students in education;

3. students must be members of CIESC;

4. priority will be given to students who have not previously received a CIESC Graduate Student Travel Award.

APPLICATION DETAILS

An application for a travel grant will consist of a complete application form from the graduate student and a recommendation letter from the student's supervisor. The online application form can be downloaded from the CIESC website here (MS word document).

Your supervisor's recommendation should include:

• confirmation that the student is a graduate student in good standing and confirm the year and program the student is currently enrolled in;

• indicate why the supervisor believes the student would benefit from attending the CSSE conference;

• give the supervisor's opinion about the strengths and potential contributions of the student, as related to comparative and international education research.

Print out and mail or fax your application form and your supervisor's recommendation letter to:
