Introduction
The University of Western Ontario offers the Ph.D. in
Education Studies. This is a research-based degree for people who wish to be prepared for an
academic position in a Faculty of Education or for a senior administrative position in a school
district or government.
Programs leading to the degree of Master of Education (M.Ed.) are available in the fields of
Counselling Psychology and Educational Studies. The M.Ed.
in Counselling Psychology is primarily meant for well-qualified people who intend
to take counselling leadership positions in schools, colleges, universities, or other community
settings. The M.Ed. in Educational Studies provides
students with opportunities for advanced academic study of education in preparation for a variety
of positions in school districts and other educational settings, as well as preparation for
doctoral studies in education.
